No one knows how long it sat there. Perhaps centuries passed before the first person ever saw the stone arch. It wasn't until the late 1800's it was ever noticed, and that wouldn't have happened if an Indian boy had not playfully jumped through and vanished as his horrified friends watched. No one knows what became of him. He was never seen again, though 50 years later what are believed to be his remains were found on an adjacent hillside several hundred meters from the arch. Those remains had not been there more than 10 years.

Since then, ranchers and native Americans alike have avoided this place. Too many events, too many strange sightings, and too many legends of this being a portal where people and animals vanish. For those who live nearby, this is a forbidden place where time stands still and extraordinary things happen when you least expect it.

The old arch is gone without a trace, having crumbled years ago. Now, adding to the strangeness of the area, a new arch has appeared nearby. Ron Quinn knows for a fact it wasn't there previously.

A great mystery is hidden away in the Tumacacori Mountains of southern Arizona. To find answers you have to go see for yourself what is real and what is not. During early 2009 Jerry and Kathy Wills, executive producers of Xpeditions TV, assembled the Xtreme Team and headed into the frontier between Arizona and Mexico. After weeks of exploration they found the plateau.

As for our experiences, the details were startling... And just when we thought our research was about to be concluded we discovered we had only started. There is something amazing happening here requiring us to dig deeper, climb higher, and go further than we thought necessary.

This is part one of a two part episode. The second part should be available by November 2009 if all goes as planned.
